You can’t become a local guide unless you live in the place.
Google Local Guides are not paid.
It’s unclear what happens when you reach level 10 on Google. You can’t see the next level of the game, so it’s difficult to know what happens.
I would recommend looking for someone who has a specialty in the area you are looking to visit. For example, if you want to go to a museum in Washington D.C., you could look for an art historian or someone who is knowledgeable about museums in general.
Local Guide Level 5 is the highest level of Local Guides. It requires a total of 75 points to achieve this level. To reach Level 5, you need to have completed 180 contributions and earned a total of 750 points from those contributions. You will also need to have been a member for at least 2 years.
To see your Google points, go to your account settings.

The Local Guide level is a hidden ranking system that Google uses to rank the most active contributors on their maps. It is not possible to view your own Local Guide level or anyone else’s, so you’ll need to find someone with a high level and ask them what they think about your level.
