When you’re playing a game on your PlayStation 5, it’s important to be able to move around the environment and interact with the game in a variety of ways. One way to do this is by using a keyboard and mouse. To use a keyboard and mouse with a PlayStation 5, first make sure that your PlayStation 5 is connected to the internet. Once it is, open your PlayStation 5’s settings and select “Network.” Then, select “Input.” In this section, you’ll need to set up two different types of input: “Keyboard” and “Mouse.” To set up Keyboard input, first make sure that your keyboard is plugged into your PlayStation 5. Note that unless a game specifically includes support for a keyboard and mouse as input devices, you won’t be able to use them. Also, there weren’t any PS5 games supporting a keyboard and mouse at the time of writing in September 2021. So you’re limited to select PS4 games that are backward compatible on PS5 and using apps like Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, etc., on your PS5.

Connecting a Keyboard and Mouse to PS5
The PS5 supports a wide range of wired, wireless, or Bluetooth keyboards and mice. The easiest way to get started is to connect a keyboard and mouse to your PS5 over USB. You can plug a wired keyboard and mouse into the USB ports at the back of the console. Also, if you’re short on ports, you can plug in a USB hub instead and connect your keyboard and mouse to it.
For a cleaner desk look, you can pair a wireless Bluetooth keyboard or mouse with the PS5. Here’s how to connect your Bluetooth keyboard or mouse with PS5.
On your PS5, select the “Settings” gear-shaped icon from the top-left corner to open it.
Scroll down and select “Accessories” to open it.
In the “General” section, select “Bluetooth Accessories.”
Now, put your Bluetooth keyboard or mouse in the pairing mode to connect it to the console.
Once either of them is connected, you can go to the “Keyboard” or “Mouse” sections in “Accessories” to tweak them further. The keyboard option lets you pick the key repeat and delay rates. For the mouse, you can set it to be left-handed or right-handed besides picking the pointer speed.
The connectivity with a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse might not be up to the mark at times. So, you can use a wireless keyboard or mouse that comes with a 2.4GHz wireless USB dongle. Using a Keyboard and Mouse With PS5
You can only use the arrow keys to navigate quickly between the menus and settings in the PS5 interface. The rest of the keys help to enter passwords, chatting with friends, or search content on Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, and other apps. Unfortunately, the PS5 doesn’t have a dedicated browser, so you can’t type in website addresses to browse the web.
When it comes to gaming, keyboard and mouse support work only for a few games like Call of Duty: Cold War, Call of Duty: Warzone, Final Fantasy XIV, Overwatch, The Elder Scrolls Online, and a few others. So in those games, at least, you can enjoy precise aim and movements with your keyboard and mouse.
It’s entirely up to game developers to include keyboard and mouse support in future PS5 games. Till that happens or not, enjoy using a keyboard and mouse with some games and getting around the console.
