If you’re a Gmail user, it’s likely that you have some sort of workaround for how to keep your account connected even when your computer is off. But if you’re using a Mac, there’s no workaround - Gmail will disconnect when the computer goes to sleep. Fortunately, there are a few ways to fix this issue without having to resort to resetting your computer or deleting all of your data. The first step is to make sure that Gmail is enabled on your Mac. If it isn’t, then enable it and then open up the Accounts preferences in the System Preferences window and check the box for “Gmail.” The next step is to find and disable any third-party applications that are using Gmail as their primary connection. This can be done by going into the Applications folder and finding the application called “Gmail” and clicking on its icon. Then select “Disable” from the list of options that appear. The last step is to set up a schedule so that your computer will connect to Gmail when it’s available. This can be done by going into System Preferences and clicking on “Networking” and then clicking on “Schedule.” Then enter in a time for each day that you want your computer to connect to Gmail, and click on “Create Schedule.”
